II.1.4) Short description of the contract or purchase(s): The Electricity
Authority of Cyprus (EAC), has decided on an urgent basis to construct the
Dhekelia Power Station - temporary power plant and permanent ICE power
plant. In order to meet the growing demand for electricity, EAC has
decided on an urgent basis to add 1 permanent new internal combustion
engine power plant (ICE power plant) comprising of 1 up to 5 identical
internal combustion engines running on heavy fuel oil within the available
space of Dhekelia Power Station (DPS). The internal combustion engines
shall be of dual firing with the option to be converted in the future to
run on natural gas.As an intermediary solution and in order to cover the
anticipated high demand of summer of 2008, EAC will accept proposals
incorporating the installation at DPS of a temporary power plant of a
total net power output between 50 MWe to 60 MWe, running on distillate or
heavy fuel oil. The temporary power plant has to be delivered for
commercial operation latest by 1.6.2008, for a period of 4 months.
