II.1) DESCRIPTION

UK-Southampton: supply of granite & purbeck stone (or equivalent) for
major highways projects.

II.1.5) Short description of the contract or purchase(s): The
establishment of framework agreements for the supply of materials for
incorporation into a series of major highway projects in Southampton. The
successful supplier/s will be expected to work with other contractors and
sub-contractors appointed to carry out major projects through a nomination
process. The frameworks will be single supplier frameworks allowing
call-offs from priced schedules of rates.
The requirement will be divided into 2 lots as indicated in section II.1.8
below. Firms may apply for consideration of one or both lots.
It is anticipated that the Framework Agreement will commence in September
2008 and will be for a period of 3 years, with a possibility of an
extension period of up to 1 year at the council's discretion.
Whilst every effort has been made to consider the full scope of the
requirement the Contracting Authority does not guarantee the volume of
goods/service/works required resulting from this tender or that it will
accept any tender on completion of the tender exercise.
The information indicated in IV.2.1 below relates to the selection of
firms for inclusion on to the frameworks.

for inclusion on to the framework agreements will be sent the Tender

The objective criteria for choosing candidates for inclusion onto the
framework agreement are:
(i) Tenders will be assessed in accordance with the evaluation criteria
and weightings included within the tender documents. The tender
questionnaire will be assessed on the applicants financial standing and
technical capacity taking into account (not listed in any order of
importance):
— References and relevance of experience (including durations),
— Evidence of any relevant specialist experience,
— Compliance with relevant Health and Safety Regulations; and
(ii) Method statements will be evaluated in accordance with the relevant
criteria and weighting and (iii) Applicants will also be required to
indicate their acceptance or otherwise of the Council's framework contract
document and
(iv) Completion of the form of tender.
The Council undertakes to use its reasonable endeavours to hold
confidential any information provided in the proposal submitted, subject
to its obligations under law, including the Freedom of Information Act
2000. If the applicant considers that any of the information submitted in
the proposal should not be disclosed because of its sensitivity then this
should be stated with the reason for considering it sensitive. The Council
will then consider the sensitivity statement before replying to any
request received under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
