County Council invites bids from organisations with demonstrable
experience of engaging and involving people from diverse communities to
become the "Host" of the Northumberland Local Involvement Network (LINk).
LINks are to be set up in each local authority area with the purpose of
promoting and supporting the involvement of local people in the
commissioning, provision and scrutiny of local health and social care
services. More information on LINks can be found at the Department of
Health website (www.dh.gov.uk/patientpublicinvolvement), the two documents
regarding ‘Getting Ready for LINks, may be of particular interest. The
host organisation will be responsible for the establishment, support,
maintenance and diversity of membership of the LINk. The expectation of
the host includes: undertaking the initial setting up of the LINk;
recruiting and maintaining a diverse range of members to the LINk; holding
the LINk finances and reporting to the local authority on all expenditure
and activities as agreed by the LINk; pro-active co-ordination, support,
promotion and communication to determine the LINk priorities, work plan
and activities; providing advice and support to the LINk, including
establishing systems for governance arrangements and the resolution of
disputes; providing a non-discriminatory service appropriate to people’s
needs.
