II.1.5) Short description of the contract or purchase(s): Stockton
Borough Council and any local authorities eligible to use the contrct, is
seeking to link housing, health and social care strategies and to develop
a more unified approach to the provision of housing and health services
for older and disabled people, regardless of tenure. The provision of
effective HIA Services are paramount to this objective.
The aim of the Service is to provide an integrated housing support
service, by providing a single point of contact and seamless co-ordination
of services, in order to enable those in need of support to maintain their
independence, health and well-being in their chosen home for as long as
possible. This may include older people, people on low incomes, disabled
people and other groups determined by local circumstances.
This aim will be achieved by assisting clients through the repair,
adaptation or improvement process, so that the Client is able to remain in
their own home in a warm, safe, secure and accessible environment. The
Service will include the direct provision of repair and maintenance
services where appropriate, preventative initiatives, and providing advice
on accessing appropriate, including, private finance.
The Service shall consist of the following six service elements, which are
described in full in the tender document:
General Advice and Information.
Co-ordination.
Repairs and Improvements.
Administration of Minor Adaptations.
Handy Person and Maintenance services.
Home Safety Assessment.
The contractor must be able to provide all of these elements.
This is a framework contract open to all Local Authorities and will be
used initially by Stockton on Tees Borough Council.
