REQUEST FOR INFORMATION FOR THE PROVISION OF INSULATORS AND LINE HARDWARE
TO ESKOM
As a result of the increasing demand for electricity in South Africa,
Eskom has commenced with a major build programme that will increase its
electricity generation, transmission and distribution capacity. Eskom
Holdings Limited has signed a loan with European Investment Bank (EIB) to
part-finance transmission investments.
1. Corp RFI 1218
Eskom invites prospective Insulator suppliers who have capacity, expertise
and experience with regard to the design, testing, manufacture and supply
of distribution and transmission line insulators.
2. Corp RFI 1219
Eskom invites prospective Line Hardware suppliers who have capacity,
expertise and experience with regard to the design, testing, manufacture
and supply of line hardware.
The objective of these RFIs is to gather information regarding market
capacity and capability. These RFIs will enable a shortlist of suppliers
that are qualified to meet Eskom's longer term requirements to be
selected. All suppliers will need to respond to either or both of these
RFIs separately. This pre-qualifying shortlist will be used to choose the
equipment suppliers until the end of 2013. The companies will be evaluated
for this shortlist according to
- experience and past performance on previous contracts;
- capabilities with respect to personnel, equipment and manufacturing
facilities; and
- financial position.
RFI documents can be obtained electronically by requesting them via email

Closing time: 10:00am South African Standard Time (GMT+2)
to ESKOM Tender Box, in Megawatt Park, Maxwell Drive, Sunninghill Sandton,
Johannesburg, or via email to dautsp@eskom.co.za
Please note the closing time will be strictly adhered to. Any RFIs not
received by the closing time will be disqualified. The responses will be
opened immediately after Closing time in the presence of the candidates
who choose to attend.
Detail on how to submit the RFIs is provided in the RFI document. Eskom
reserves the right to accept or reject any submission.
