II.1) DESCRIPTION

II.1.3) The notice involves: A public contract.
II.1.5) Short description of the contract or purchase(s): In June 2007, a
contract was awarded for the supply and installation of a single wind
turbine generator at Balloo Wood in Bangor. It is envisaged the turbine
will be installed in July 2008 and generating electricity by the end of
August 2008.
An electricity supplier is required to manage this process, to provide a
top up of electricity when necessary and ensure the Council receives the
best price for surplus energy and any spillage. The Council in return will
enter into an agreement with the successful service provider for the
purchase of Renewable Obligation Certificates (ROCs) and Levy Export
Certificates (LECs).
The contract is divided into two requirements, the requirement above and
another for a schedule of smaller sites, due to the nature of the supply
(further information in Tender Documentation). Service providers may bid
for either 1 or both of the 2 requirements detailed in the tender
specification. Contracts will initially be awarded for a period of 1 year
with an option to extend for a further 2 1-year periods to be reviewed
annually. It is anticipated that the contract will be effective from
1.9.2008.
