Proposals is targeted to acquire: - global Internet connectivity at
multi-Gigabit/s in two locations in Amsterdam; - four lambda circuits
between Amsterdam and New York City; and - three lambda circuits between
Amsterdam and Chicago. For full details see the Call for Proposals
document.

II.2) QUANTITY OR SCOPE OF THE CONTRACT
II.2.1) Total quantity or scope: Lot 1 – Global Internet connectivity
from the SURFnet PoP at SARA in Amsterdam (the Netherlands) at
multi-Gigabit/s; Lot 2 – Global Internet connectivity from the SURFnet PoP
at TeleCity2 in Amsterdam (the Netherlands) at multi-Gigabit/s; Lot 3 –
unprotected, bi-directional and transparent lambdas at 10 Gbit/s (optional
40 Gbit/s) between SARA or Telecity2, Amsterdam (the Netherlands) and the
32 Ave. of the Americas Carrier Building, New York City (NY, USA). Lot 3a:
first lambda circuit to New York City; Lot 3b: second lambda circuit to
New York City; Lot 3c: a third lambda circuit to New York City; Lot 3d: a
contractual option for a fourth lambda circuit to New York City. Lot 4 –
unprotected, bi-directional and transparent lambdas at 10 Gbit/s (optional
40 Gbit/s) between SARA or Telecity2 Amsterdam (the Netherlands) and
StarLight, Chicago (IL, USA). Lot 4a: first lambda circuit to Chicago; Lot
4b: second lambda circuit to Chicago; Lot 4c: a contractual option for a
third lambda circuit to Chicago. The contract period for all Lots is 5
years, with a notice period after the initial year for SURFnet of one (1)
month, and for the Tenderer of six (6) months. For full details see the
Call for Proposals document.
II.2.2) Options: Yes.
Description of these options: In relation to Lot 3 and Lot 4 SURFnet
expects that 40 Gbit/s wavelengths are currently available and that 100
Gbit/s will be available within a few years. Hence, SURFnet asks for
Proposals that include an option for a bandwidth upgrade to 40 Gbit/s
within one year. The contract period for all Lots is 5 years, with a
notice period after the initial year for SURFnet of one (1) month, and for
the Tenderer of six (6) months, for details see the Call for Proposals
document section 6.5.
II.3) DURATION OF THE CONTRACT OR TIME-LIMIT FOR COMPLETION: Duration in
months: 60 (from the award of the contract).
INFORMATION ABOUT LOTS
LOT NO 1
TITLE: First Service - Global Internet connectivity at SARA
1) SHORT DESCRIPTION: SURFnet intends to obtain global IPv4 unicast and
multicast, and IPv6 unicast Internet connectivity via 1x 10 Gigabit
Ethernet to be delivered to the SURFnet core location at SARA in
Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
2) COMMON PROCUREMENT VOCABULARY (CPV): 64200000, 72318000.
3) QUANTITY OR SCOPE: Tenderer must offer a flexible Committed Data Rate
(CDR) that SURFnet can adjust during the contract period. SURFnet expects
an initial CDR of 2.0 Gbit/s. The requested capacity anticipates a steady
growth of SURFnet’s global Internet traffic. Tenderer is therefore asked
to provide a tariff scheme (see section 6.6 of the Call for Proposals
document) based on different committed traffic levels and peak traffic
above the committed level.

TITLE: Second Service - Global Internet connectivity at TeleCity2
