   1. The Volta River Authority invites applications for Pre-qualification for the Installation of Generator Fire Detection, Alarm and Suppression System at Akosombo Generating Station Powerhouse.
2. The scope of works will cover the replacement of the existing CO2 system (bottles and all accessories), obsolete electromechanical panel, solenoid valves, cables, discharge pipes, beacons and sounders and manual release and system blocking points with more efficient system.

A detailed scope of works expected to be awarded includes but not limited to:

• Supply and installation of Addressable Generator, Emergency Diesel Generator Room, Oil Purification/Storage Room Fire Detection, Alarm and Suppression Control Panel
• Supply and installation of Addressable Smoke Detectors for all Generator units, Emergency Diesel Generator Room, Oil Purification/Storage Room and Main Meter Board room.
• Supply and installation of Addressable Dual Smoke/Heat Detectors for all Generator units, Emergency Diesel Generator Room, Oil Purification/Storage Room and Main Meter Board room.
• Supply and installation of Addressable Manual Release and System Blocking Points for each generator, Emergency diesel generator room, Oil purification/storage room.
• Supply and installation of Addressable Sounders/Strobes
• Supply and installation of all FP cables/signal cables for the entire system
• Design, supply and installation of a fire suppression system for each Generator unit, Emergency Diesel Generator Room, Oil Purification/Storage Room.
• All other installations necessary to make a complete Addressable Generator Fire Detection, Alarm and Suppression System
• Supply and installation of warning signs and labels.
• Training of Employer staff on installed system


3. As per the guidance in the Instructions to Applicants the Pre-Qualification Document, in order to Pre-qualify, applicants must demonstrate sufficient capacity to undertake the construction of the Works. More details on the requirements are provided in the Pre-Qualification Document accompanying this invitation.

4. The Volta River Authority will issue Tender Documents to those Pre-Qualified Tenderers that demonstrate sufficient capacity to implement the Works. It is expected that Invitations for Tenders for the project will be issued in July 2024.

5. The procurement will be conducted through the International Competitive Tendering (ICT) procurement method with pre-qualification in accordance with the Public Procurement Act, 2003 (Act 663) as amended.

6. The Pre-Qualification Document in English may be purchased upon payment of a non-refundable fee of Three Hundred Ghana Cedis (GHS300.00). The method of payment will be by cash payable to Volta River Authority at the Finance Office in Akuse.

7. Prospective Applicants interested in obtaining the Pre-Qualification Document may obtain further information from, and inspect the Tendering Documents from Monday April 22, 2024 at the following address from 09:00 to 15:00 hours GMT to Thursday May 30, 2024, except on Public Holidays.

8. A Site visit and Pre-tender meeting shall be held for all prospective applicants. Interested applicants would therefore be required to meet at the address below at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday May 7, 2024.

9. Applications must be delivered to the address below on or before Thursday May 30, 2024 at 13:00 hours GMT. Electronic Procurement will not be permitted.
